Our lesson this week started with a brief overview of On-Set Virtual Production (OSVP), which is a technology used for tv and film creation that uses LED panels as a backdrop for a set. The LED screen allows video or computer-generated imagery to be displayed in real time. It became wide-spread after it was used in the first season of the Mandalorian on Disney+.
OSVP works in contrast to studio technology where green screen shoots are used and then virtual surroundings get composited into the scene in postproduction.
OSVP is useful because it emits realistic and interactive lighting effects, which would've been a game changer for the Mandalorian as his suit is metallic and therefore highly reflective.

We got to look again at the scene we will be working on, this time focusing on how we need to break down the shots for recording.
There will 4 camera setups we need to film so there will be at least 4 takes of the scene.

After the lecture, we went down into the MoCap studio once again to learn more about recording our Faceware capture data. It was really cool to see how quickly Faceware was able to track the actor's facial features. The digital model mirrored the actions of the actor quite well, however there were some limitations such as no tracking of the tongue and the location of the helmet on the head impacting the accuracy of the tracking.

At the end of class, we got given some time to do a rehearsal of our scene as well as matching the composition of the shots. Jasmine was our Vactor, Reyna our live actor, Medina our camerawoman, Izzy our documenter and I was directing.

From our footage we compiled this rehearsal video. It's very funny lol.
After class our group worked on a Actor Questionnaire where we analysed the personality of the characters from the film. This helps us understand the motives of the character so our actor can act accordingly.
